The Mariners' Church (Grade II Listed) was constructed 1848 - 9 by John Jacques.
It is a single cell church in 13th Century Style bult to serve dockers and the needs of multinational seafarers from visiting ships. It is still an active Anglican church and is the main focal point of Mariners' Square at the heart of Gloucester Docks.

The American Mariner is currently docked at General Mills in Buffalo, NY, most likely holding out for better weather after its most recent delivery.
Similar to the Manitoulin, which has been stuck about a mile from its drop-off point for several days, this lake freighter makes multiple trips throughout the year to deliver goods to the General Mills manufacturing plant on the Buffalo River.
Lake freighter traffic in Buffalo is much lighter compared to, say, Port Huron in Michigan, so seeing both of these freighters in the past two days has been a real treat.

NASA Administrator James Webb is standing directly behind the Mariner model. The Mariner 2 probe (launched on August 27, 1962) flew by Venus on December 14, 1962, sending back data on its atmosphere, mass, and weather patterns. It stopped transmitting in 1963 after delivering a wealth of scientific information. Mariner 2 was the first successful planetary flyby.
