Running at track speed between Little River and Lara is PN Intermodal service 2MA5 from South Dynon to Islington behind NR34/NR61/NR117/NR14 on Monday the 25th of March 2024. Since 2022, NR34 has worn a wrap featuring Indigenous artwork as part of Pacific National's Reconciliation Action Plan.
Intermodal services out this way have been rather quiet due to flooding along the Trans Australian Railway, closing the line to Perth until the weekend. PN's MA5/AM5 services between Melbourne and Adelaide have ran periodically during the last few weeks due to a decline in loading which has seen some services cancelled, with loading allocated onto MP5/PM5 services.

After waiting for 4MP7 to clear the section, JBR's 4AD8 'The Ghan' from Keswick to Berrimah exits the Adelaide Parklands Terminal behind NR66/NR34 on Wednesday the 9th of August 2023. Another shortage of Ghan liveried locomotives due to varying forms of accident damage has seen both NR66 and NR34 working the Ghan alongside regular PN liveried units in the last few weeks.
The Ghan is a twice weekly service from Adelaide’s Parklands Terminal to Darwin, the journey takes approximately 54 hours to travel the 2,979km distance, with off train excursions provided at Manguri (SA), Alice Springs (NT) and Katherine. Pacific National provide the locomotives and crews for all JBR services, whilst JBR manage and operate the train and the rolling stock.
