Super 7 Pack

71 Miles from Benwood and the Ohio River, Ohio Central's ZVL job is at the site of the former siding in Sonora as they work west towards their base in Zanesville. Severed as a through route in the 80s and spun off to Ohio Central in the early 2000s, Ohio Central still moves freight shuttling cars between Zanesville and Cambridge.

The YN3 logo on the long hood of OHCR 3185 is visibly apparent as Ohio Central's ZVL job works east to Cambridge at Norwich.

With a pair of super 7 rebuilds still in Conrail blue, Ohio Central's ZVL job runs east to Cambridge as they roll underneath US 40.

Clock Strikes Night

For what I can only assume is CSO-5, is seen here quietly in their Hartford yard in Hartford, Connecticut. Represented here in CSOR very popular B39-8 still wearing its original LMX paint from all the way back in the 80s.

OHCR 4027 Machan's Rock Beach City OH CNL1 4/19/20

Running light power to Brewster to grab a loaded stone train, OHCR 4027 heads north past Machan's Rock outside of Beach City, Ohio, on April 19, 2020. Just like most other G&W lines in 2025, the only locomotive from this consist that's still active today is the orange geep.

While the Ohio Central CNL1 is stopped to make a rear-end pickup at Stark Truss, an Amish family with a horse and buggy passes by on Route 212 in Beach City, Ohio, on May 20, 2021. One of those lucky moments... the horse has all 4 hooves in the air!

OHCR 4099 Beach City OH CNL1 8/23/21

Ohio Central CNL1 rolls south out of Beach City with two super 7s bracketing 5 cars from interchange with W&LE and RJC on the morning of Aug 23, 2021. They would stop to drop the two boxcars behind me at Stark Truss, while the three tankcars would go to Coshocton for Wiley Organics.

Both OC 4099 and 4094 (on the rear) were taken OOS in 2024 due to G&W's agreement with the EPA, unlikely to see revenue service again.

Departing Baton Rouge for Shreveport

The annual CPKC Holiday Express visited communities along the former Kansas City Southern Lines from late November until mid-December 2024. The train first ran southeast from Shreveport, Louisiana, to Jackson, Meridian, and Vicksburg, Mississippi on the former Midsouth. After that it rolled over the old Louisiana & Arkansas to LaPlace (New Orleans) and Baton Rouge. Power for the train is provided by three classic EMD F units in KCS paint. The “Holiday Express” itself consists of a non-powered “locomotive” (“Rudy”), a generator car, Santa flatcar, model train display boxcar, and a pair of former Gateway Western cabooses.

MILL @ Gould

Three SD40-2s emerge from the tunnel at Gould as they close in on Mingo Junction, where they will interchange with NS and then return to Miller Station. Now, a year later, this and most Ohio Central jobs are widecab SD60 variants, and the SD40s are to be shipped off or scrapped.

OHCR 4027 and company notch up for the first time on the cold morning of Nov. 24, 2023, with the MILL job departing Miller Station for Scio. This was the last train I saw 4027 on before it was pulled OOS and will likely be sold off overseas.
