The Flickr Pinesnake Image Generatr

Pinesnake (Pituophis melanoleucus) from Eastern Georgia. Although typically I find pinesnakes crossing or just off the road I came across this individual in a defensive posture in the road. Driving down the road I noticed a typical Honda CRV rural mailman swerve in the road, after noticing him swerve I saw a new object appear on that stretch of road which I instantly assumed was a writhing snake he/she had just hit. Upon approach I saw this unscathed juvenile or young adult Pinesnake ready to strike at my car.

I cruised up this Florida pine snake a couple years ago. One of the coolest herp experiences I’ve ever had. 🐍

Probably the last somewhat successful performance of my Canon Speedlight 430ex II. The camera fell hard before this photo was taken, and though camera and lens survived, the flash broke at the base. This was my go-to flash unit for the last ten years; I preferred it coupled with my "Dennis-the-Menace" homemade diffusers over ring flash and several more powerful purchases. It has survived multiple spills, even a three-minute swim in a swamp to suddenly have its life snuffed out last night in the Pines. Its last illumination may be this photo...even after this mishap, it still glowed one last time...R.I.P. my little friend...oh, this northern pine snake is beautiful!
