Red-rumped Parrots have adapted well to urban environments, frequently visiting city landscapes to forage for grass seeds. This affinity for grass seeds has earned them the colloquial name Grass Parrots.

However, despite their ability to thrive in urban areas, Red-rumped Parrot populations are facing a decline due to the destruction of their natural habitats & a scarcity of suitable breeding hollows.

The same Parrot that was shown the other day. A few people questioned the name Red-rumped as the red doesn't show from the ventral view.

I took Daniel and Sarah on a short 'nature walk' along the D 1 Drain Reserve today. It was lovely to see the Red-rumped Parrots back in residence.

I have no motivation to pick the camera up today, just a lazy day for me. Besides it is 39°C (102°F) outside! So a couple of 'images I prepared earlier'

Red-rumped Parrots are also known as Grass Parrots because of their love of sitting in the grass nibbling on the grass seeds. This male was completely unphased by my presence yesterday, quite content for me to sit on the ground and observe his nibbling.
