The last image from this one-day challenge. I have to say that the Fujifilm XT is a delight to use in "square format", because it allows me to see in the finder and the back display the 1:1 aspect ratio. And produce wonderful square format jpegs. Sure I will be using this feature in the future.

From 200 square format jpeg images, I took on this one-day challenge, found only two acceptable. That's about the same rate I get on a day of photography.

The 400 Challenge.

The Canon 400mm f/5.6 is a super sharp lens with low chromatic aberration and wonderful colors. But the absence of image stabilization will push for high shutter speeds and high ISO. Unless you do not mind using a steady tripod all the time. This challenge helps me find out that I need a super-telephoto zoom instead of a single focal, in order to make a better composition. Also, realize that I need a "Stabilization" feature for those handheld and windy situations.
(Spanish: este lente Canon 400mm f/5.6 es un lente con una óptica excelente. Pero la ausencia de "Estabilizador" limita a solo usar velocidades altas y elevado ISO. Este Reto me ayudo a realizar que necesito un zoom en vez de una sola focal. Y también "Estabilizador" en el lente, para situaciones a mano y mucha brisa).

Finally took some courage and try the 400mm handheld by increasing the ISO to 800 and opening the aperture to F/5.6. Very impressed with this lens sharpness.
(Spanish: Finalmente probe el lente sin el trípode, le subí el ISO a 800 y abrí la apertura a f/5.6. Quede impresionado de su enfoque y definición).

Is a relief when you have distant subjects with the 400mm lens, this helps me in finding a composition. Using the 400 always on a tripod, that's why I can stop the lens down to F/16 and use really low shutter speeds. All this if there is no wind.
(Spanish: Es un verdadero alivio encuentras sujetos distantes cuando se usa el 400, ya que ayuda a conseguir una composición. Siempre uso el trípode con el 400mm, por eso puedo cerrar el diafragma a F/16 y usar velocidades lentas. Todo esto si no hay viento).

I never use the 400 handheld, so I will be using a tripod all the time. Went to the river and photograph the other side (about 1,000 feet away). Here added a combination of film grain, sharpening, and soft effect to enhance the mood. Was interesting to see some "live oaks" getting covered by vines and tall grass.
(Spanish: Verdaderamente un reto para mi el usar el 400mm, ya que no estoy acostumbrado a el. Por lo tanto me fui con el lente en el trípode a la orilla del rió a fotografiar el otro lado, mas de 300 metros de distancia. Perfecto para el 400. Para esta foto le añadí el efecto de grano de película, mas enfoque y difusión. Para crear un ambiente. Interesante ver unos robles cubiertos por trepadoras y yerbas).
