Still catching up...
Day after a wind storm at White Sands National Park. We did the Alkali Flat Trail that morning. It doesn't sound challenging at 4.8 miles and a total elevation gain of 49 feet total (according to my app), but that fresh sand made it a challenge! Up and down the dunes. Still, so absolutely stunning. A must do.
Took out my camera, beautiful light - dead battery, no spare! so poor snap of a crocus ...

A few gulls were picking up an object (a rock, a stick, even a piece of plastic), carrying it, and then dropping it. Sometimes they'd catch it before it hit the water, and sometimes they'd dive in to retrieve it. At least once I saw another gull get to the prize first.
