“Gemini-9 astronaut Charles Bassett, who is scheduled to stroll in space for 90 minutes next year, according to a December 29th Air Force announcement, is shown in the 1930 Model A Ford that he uses to drive to and from work at the Manned Spacecraft Center at Houston. In space, he is to use a self-sustaining 200-pound satellite to get around, quite a contrast to his workaday means of transport.”

Orange and Black

A 1969 Cougar Eliminator arrives for some work at Joe's garage. The colors of the Merc compliment those of the 267. Joe, who runs the service garage on the west side of Hamilton, Wi, enjoys having all the hot rodders congregate and share some good times and probably more that a few beers.

Tied Up With Cord

The Great Depression saw a big divide between the haves and have-nots. The 1937 Cord 810 was a powerful and beautiful example of how the wealthier were doing. Those with lesser means were often driving more common vehicles such as Model A's. And the even poorer often relied on the interurban which, while not a convenient, often served the purpose especially when available in rural areas. Within a couple of decades the street car lines would be relegated to the scrap heap as post WWII prosperity had everyone driving.

Scratchbuilt interurban. Vehicles by Franklin/Danbury Mint.

Ford Model T with MAJOR LENS FLAIR, Florida Ave. South of Hernando, FL(2 of 3) by gg1electrice60

Ford Model T with MAJOR LENS FLAIR, Florida Ave. South of Hernando, FL(2 of 3)

These three Photographs show a 1930 Model A Pickup Truck, in front of some sort of Farm Market on US Route 41 in Citrus County, Florida at the intersection of S.Florida Ave. (aka: US 41) and E. Gobbler Drive (aka: County Road. 39A). The address of the Market is 5600 South Florida Avenue across from a Shell Gas Station and Circle K Convenience Store.

DISCLAIMER: I couldn't find a suitable angle to take this photograph from, because of the bright sun shining directly into the lens, no matter where I positioned myself; but I wanted a photograph of the front of this vehicle. Unfortunately, even my best angle wasn't good enough and I've got MAJOR Lens Flair, even after I toned it down as best I could with Photoshop Elements 10™.

There are also some Ford Model-T's and other classic vehicles in the parking lot in front of the market. Next to the Market on the North side is the "Cat Nap Inn" and on the side side is the "Koala Tee Academy" (aka: Children's Day Care Center). Also nearby on the opposite side of US 41, is the "Good Counsel Camp".
