A Blackhawk helicopter with the California National Guard out of Mather Airbase in Sacramento practices lifting concrete blocks weighing 1500, 2100 and 4000 pounds. This action took place on the Van Vleck Ranch next to Ione-Michigan Bar Road. These helos can lift up to 4 tons, or twice the lift weight shown here.
"Univac 50MB hard drive from 1967. It weighed two tons. The floor moved when the head moved and could be felt in the whole building. There were 2 drums with the heads mounted on a huge rod between the 2 drums. The voice coil that moved the heads was massive. Regular maintenance involved opening the cabinet and with special cloths wiping the drums clean. The Bernoulli principle maintained the heads flying above the drum surface. A speck of dust could cause a head to crash.
The drum units were eventually replaced by multi-platter hard disk units: 10 platters, 20 surfaces, 20 mb each removable unit. Each needed a washing machine size cabinet. 3 of these occupied the space of a drum drive. They had to knock a hole in the building to get the drum drives out."

The Sheerline was a luxury vehicle manufactured between 1947 and 1954.
This vehicle was manufactured by Herbert Lomas Ltd, Wimslow, Cheshire.
It weighed over 2 Tons fully loaded and with its extended chassis would have been hard to corner with no power steering.
It has a 3999cc (4 Litre) Petrol engine.
The Sheerline was styled the same as contemporary Rolls Royce or Bentley motor cars but would have been only two thirds of the price - still 5 times more than a standard Austin of the day.
