Boeing 737-200 Geneva Fire Trainer ex-F-GCJL - 04th November 2011
Geneva Airport Fire & Rescue training aircraft F-GCJL is seen parked on the ramp on the morning of Saturday 04th November 2011. Delivered new to United Airlines in September 1968 as N9029U the Boeing 737-200 remained with United until June 1976 when it moved to Aloha Airlines. Four year later it joined Euralair as F-GCJL in February 1980. It went to Air Florida for a few months on lease from Euralair, it also spent a few months in 1989 with Air France and in February 1996 joined Air Liberte. In April 1998 the aircraft was placed with Air Méditerranée and was withdrawn in September 2005 after 37 years of airline service. The Following storage in Lourdes and Chateauroux the aircraft was sent to Geneva where it has been used as a fire brigade training aircraft ever since.
I had seen this aircraft on numerous visits to Geneva but have never been able to get a photograph, this time we were parked at a gate right at the main terminal meaning I could finally get a shot - a cheeky shot during turnaround despite the rain on the window ;)
