The Puerto Rican Parrot is one of the ten most endangered birds in the world. While they do breed in the wild at El Yunque National Forest, the area is not accessible to the public. While birding the roads of El Yunque, we accidentally came across the area (behind a cyclone fence and dense vegetation) where there is a captive breeding population. It was a thrill to see and hear this special parrot, even if not in the wild. Pairs mate for life. Doug was able to get this video through the cyclone fence!
