Dashi Granules by arbyreed

Dashi Granules

I actually like the previous photo of salt crystals better than this one but it seems like plenty of people chose to do salt for the MM challenge so I decided to go with these dashi granules instead. Area shown is about 33mm wide.

Easter Bunny in the Garden by arbyreed

Easter Bunny in the Garden

AI homage to Beatrix Potter's series of Peter Rabbit stories. For the Sliders Sunday group. Base image created using AI tools and processed using Photoshop and Quad Pencil. Happy Sliders Sunday and Happy Easter!

I have always been a huge fan of Beatrix Potter, certainly for her stories and illustrations but even more for her activities as an environmentalist and conservationist. She was an English author and illustrator, best known for her children's books featuring animal characters, such as "The Tale of Peter Rabbit." She was also a natural scientist and conservationist, credited with preserving much of the land that now constitutes the Lake District National Park.

Capiz by arbyreed

Capiz

Capiz AKA Windowpane oyster (Placuna placenta) is a bivalve marine mollusk in the family of Placunidae. It is edible, but valued more for its shell (and its rather small pearls). The oyster's shells have been used for thousands of years as a glass substitute because of their durability and translucence. More recently, they have been used in the manufacture of decorative items such as chandeliers and lampshades; in this use, the shell is known as the capiz shell (kapis). Capiz shells are also used as raw materials for glue, chalk and varnish. -- Courtesy Wikipedia

Aging United States Nickels by arbyreed

Aging United States Nickels

The U.S. changed the portrait of Jefferson on the nickel in 2006, when a new forward-facing image of Thomas Jefferson was introduced, replacing the previous profile design that had been in use since 1938. This change was part of a redesign of the Jefferson nickel series. For the Crazy Tuesday challenge: "currency and/or banknotes."

I had planned on using part of my banknote collection for this challenge but realized I did banknotes back in February 2023 when we had a similar challenge here on Crazy Tuesday. You can see that one below.

Happy Crazy Tuesday.

Dual Function Knob by arbyreed

Dual Function Knob

When this week's challenge was announced, I thought great, an easy one with lots of potential. It was only when I went on the prowl for knobs in my house that I found I had a dearth of the things. I do still have a few but they have all but disappeared on modern electronic devices. This is the volume control knob for my trusty portable AM/FM radio. Area shown is about 45mm square.

Egg Roller

Though there were several patents for paint rollers granted around the same time it is generally agreed that the paint roller was invented in 1940 by Norman Breakey in Canada. They are useful tools for DIY painters so I guess I should not be surprised to see that there is actually a version for painting eggs.
