The Boeing Collection
From a collection of some 500 Boeing slides that I've had scanned from my archives. Hope they will provide some enjoyment and nostalgia from a bygone age.
D-ABYM seen here about to touch down at Frankfurt (Rhein-Main-Flughafen), with the old hangars in the background. Plenty of heat haze on this one I'm afraid, but still a record of times long-past :)
Lufthansa 747s D-ABYJ - D-ABYT
D-ABYM was the fourth of the second batch of ten Boeing 747s bought by Lufthansa between 1976 and 1980. These augmented the original batch of eight Boeing 747s bought new in the early 1970s [D-ABYA - D-ABYH].
D-ABYM c/n 21588 'Schleswig-Holstein' Boeing 747-230B - delivered new to Lufthansa in Oct 1978 the aircraft flew with the airline for 23 years before being retired - the very last Boeing 747-200 in service with Lufthansa. The aircraft was preserved at the Aero-Technic Museum, Speyer, Germany.
Taken with a Soviet made Zenith E camera and 300mm lens. From an original slide, scanned and unrestored.
