Glorious evening sunlight and this pair of Feral Pigeons are making the most of it and doing some pair-bonding as well.
The hen bird on the left is revealing her bare brooding patch very clearly.

I thought a little bit of billing and cooing might be in order, to cheer up a very grey, foggy day! The hen bird is gently preening her mates head feathers.

One of the 'regulars' and a real character, that resides on my site. I am unable to dismiss it as just a feral bird and love making images of him. He can always be relied upon to strike a pose when things are a little quiet with other subjects.

To-day the feral pigeons spent more time outside the buildings than in them. The 'gang' loafed around in the sunshine and found squatting down on the moss covered asbestos roof very agreeable. I imagine there must be good heat retention up there and the birds were making the most of it!

Feral Pigeons get bad press in our towns and cities. They are maligned as pests and regarded as 'flying rats' by many.
There is a small population of them at my site and I like them! They are characterful, healthy, varied and they live a good rural life. I enjoy hearing their subdued cooing coming from inside the buildings, very relaxing!
This bird is one of my favourites....what's not to like about it? S/he usually perches above where I am photographing so, on this occasion I decided s/he should be the subject!
