What is a "Hyatt Centric," you might ask? It's a new brand for the Hyatt chain of hotels, and apparently this newly opened properly (spring 2015) is only the second example of the brand to be opened in the world.
I stayed here for the night in late December 2015. This is near the center of Chicago's Financial District, but it's a pretty quiet neighborhood on the weekends, so there are some good rates available.
The Centric is located in a 22 story tower that was consturcted as retail office space in 1927, designed by architect Frank Chase. It was a successful office building for many decades, and the building was nearly full, but the owners of the property felt that they could make money from it through a conversion to a hotel. That's the way it goes!
