Great horned owlet nestlings can eat up to 40 mice daily. We had sent two mice with this youngster to keep hunger away until his parents resumed feeding him. As the time without parents got longer and longer, he got naturally hungry and restless. (Honestly, I was afraid he was going to fall down again.) He endured hunger, loneliness and strong thunderstorms with heavy rains until the happy reunion happened! ❤️
