Le nom Bobino vient d'une série télévisée québécoise pour la jeunesse de plus de 5 000 épisodes (dont 1 600 en noir et blanc) créée par Guy Sanche (né à Hull) et diffusée entre le 23 mai 1957 et le 14 juin 1985 à la Télévision de Radio-Canada.

Le titre, Bobino, provient du personnage principal créé et interprété par Guy Sanche jusqu’à la fin de la série. De par sa longévité exceptionnelle, la série possède un statut de série culte.

L'émission tournait autour des péripéties de Bobino (Guy Sanche) et de sa petite sœur Bobinette (une marionnette maniée par Paule Bayard puis Christine Lamer). L'histoire est entrecoupée de séquences de dessins animés présentés comme étant des petits bouts de films. Les personnages principaux s’adressent directement aux téléspectateurs que Bobino nomme les tout-petits.
