The Kestrel happily sat on the grass bank until something caught its eye. Nikon D4s Sigma 150-600mm
This fellow is one of two male American Kestrels that were hunting at a local wildlife refuge. They occasionally swooped by the area in which I had situated myself, giving me a quick look at their beauty. Such a small raptor. The smallest member (I believe) of the Falcon family of raptors.
Yes, it was an overcast day, so no beautiful blue NW Oregon sky as a backdrop to this birdie...we take the few blue sky days in Fall/Winter as gifts. The rest of the time, we live with white skies. Oh well. Still beautiful!
