7 months before departure we booked a balcony cabin on NCL Gem for a 10 day cruise to Canada from New York City. We saved some money by booking a "Guarantee Cabin Type" which basically leaves it up to the cruise line to select a cabin for us. Much to our surprise, we ended up in the best cabin we've ever had. Some referred to this as a "mini-Suite".
