He wasn't happy... nor was I....
I didn't spend too long on this fella, taking the picture or zooming in too see if he had enough detail.
He just wasn't happy that I was there taking his picture.
He started on a chair., where I just couldn't get him in focus with my macro lens. When I got close to him, he stopped and turned to me when I was about to take a shot of him but he started coming at me. I so hate spiders so I backed off...
He got to the edge of the chair again stopping. As I approached he dropped slowly and creepily using his fine woven silk.
About a quarter the way down he stopped. The tilt screen on my 70d came in handy.
I approached him while looking down at the screen, got him in focus, and rapidly shot 11 photos before he descended to the ground quite quickly.
He then to my dislike ran at me... I couldn't believe how aggressive the little bugger was. He was also one of the biggest Redbacks I had seen and I've seen unfortunately quite a lot back at my old farm where I grew up.
I got some more shots of him under a post with some of them what I saw quickly where focused but... This is already giving me nightmares enough this week. perhaps some other time I'll put another shot of him up....
The man-of-war's body consists of a gas-filled (mostly nitrogen), bladder-like float (a polyp, the pneumatophore) - a translucent structure tinted pink, blue, or violet - which may be 3 to 12 inches (9 to 30 centimeters) long and may extend as much as 6 inches (15 centimeters) above the water. Beneath the float are clusters of polyps, from which hang tentacles of up to 165 feet (about 50 meters) in length.
The nematocystic sting toxin secreted from the tentacles of the dactylozooids, a mixture of enzymes, is a neurotoxin about seventy-five percent as powerful as cobra venom.
