Obviously, there’s not much to go on here. It appears to be a fragment of an old wood-burning stove. We found it in an old farmer’s junkyard in the Paw Paw Prairie Fen Preserve near Mattawan, Michigan. I dropped a photo into ChatGPT, which tentatively identified it as part of a Round Oak Stove Company stove - based upon the decoration and the geography - the Round Oak Stove Company was in Dowagiac, Michigan.
“Round Oak was considered the finest heating stove money could buy because of the quality of its durable heating stove and by the late 1890s there were many ‘oak’ imitators on the market. The company expanded rapidly and at its height in the 1910s, employed 1200 of the 5000 residents in Dowagiac, Michigan.“

I got up early to hike Marcus Landslide Trail and catch a sunrise. But caught this moon set first by looking behind me at this interesting rock formation.

Get to know this 3.9-mile out-and-back trail near Scottsdale, Arizona. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 1 h 39 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, mountain biking, and running, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are October through April. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
Marcus Landslide Trail is an interpretive trail with signs along the way describing the geological forces that led to a landslide about 500,000 years ago. This trail is fairly easy for the most part except for the final loop section which climbs up. There are many boulders and interesting rock formations along the way. The interpretive signs give information about the landslide, how it was believed to be caused, and the resulting landscape. The trail also gives nice views of the surrounding area, including Four Peaks, Mount McDowell, Weaver's Needle. The trail is well-maintained.
The "McDowell Sonoran Preserve" is a joint effort of the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy and the City of Scottsdale to preserve the McDowell Mountains as undeveloped.

These are the Four Peaks - Wekopa - east of Scottsdale.
I went out to the Fraesfield Trailhead to scout for sunrise locations. Leaving my house the sky was mostly clear so I figured this was going to be mostly hiking and not much photography so I left my tripod at home. As I hit Happy Valley Road and crossed over the mountains the clouds were rolling in over the Superstitions and the Salt River. Made me regret not bringing my tripod.
I found some spots on the Whiskey Bottle Trail for sunrises. I'm going to scout the Granite Mountain Trailhead. So far I still like the spot on the Marcus Landslide Trail.
I stopped at the Brown's Ranch Trailhead to scout for sunset spots. Some potential.

The Whiskey Bottle Trail is a new trail in the expanded northern section of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. The trail starts at the Fraesfield Trailhead and heads northwest across the northeast side of Fraesfield Mountain and terminates at Powerline Road #2. From there, you can go back the way you came, or continue throughout the system of trails making a larger loop back to the Fraesfield Trailhead.
