This male herring gull (Larus argentatus) is at least ten years old, and is called JEH77 on its ring. I've met it several times, most recently twice this early summer.
This photo of it together with redshanks and a dunlin is my first photo of it, over 4 years ago.
There are always many different seagulls in the bay where it stays, and many other species as well, especially during migration.
While other ringed herring gulls I've registered have been several places in western Norway, and some in Denmark and Germany as well, this individual has only been in this exact bay after ringing nearby over six years ago.
The herring gull is BirdLife Norway's Bird of the Year 2024. Since I'm a coastal girl, I love having them around ツ
