These are details of Rebecca Louise Law's art installation "calyx", made of thousands of blossoms and one of the most enchanting artworks I saw lately!

As with 2-D visual, the engagement of sculpture touches something within the highly developed visual cortex at the back of the brain; people have different tastes in art, but probably everybody responds pleasurably to certain forms. This set of sculptures references gestation and wombs (background wall art) expressed in rounded, smooth, transparent glass (itself encased transparently in the exhibition case). Perhaps one of the meanings is that the comforting shape is capable of supporting any sort of progeny: transparency is another way of saying "pure potential" or anything is possible. But another meaning at the same time is (here) barrenness, gestation deferred.

Community was created by Rebecca Louise Law by combining more than 50 of her previous installations to create what she calls "an undulating natural space suspended in time". Dozens of interns, museum staffers, and volunteers were involved in assembling the strings of dried plants and flowers suspended from the ceiling.
