Das Reh besiedelt die verschiedensten Lebensräume. Es bevorzugt strauchreiche Mischwälder mit umliegenden Feldern. Infolge seiner großen Anpassungsfähigkeit bewohnt es auch weniger günstige Lebensräume, z.B. rein landwirtschaftliche Flächen (Feldreh).
