Polar Express (The Polar Express) è un film del 2004 diretto da Robert Zemeckis.
Il film si basa sulla sceneggiatura di Eddie Deezen e William Broyles Jr., mentre il soggetto è tratto dall'omonimo libro illustrato per ragazzi di Chris Van Allsburg, pubblicato nel 1985 e premiato l'anno successivo con la Medaglia Caldecott.Inoltre si tratta del primo cartone animato realizzato in CGI utilizzando la tecnica della performance capture (ossia con personaggi digitali ottenuti "captando" i movimenti degli attori in carne e ossa), motivo per cui è entrato a far parte del Guinness dei primati. Questo film rappresenta l'ultima interpretazione dell'attore Michael Jeter, deceduto durante la lavorazione.
È la notte della Vigilia di Natale e un bambino è fortemente convinto che sotto l'albero i regali verranno messi dai suoi genitori e non da Babbo Natale, alla cui esistenza non crede affatto. Proprio pochi minuti prima di mezzanotte, sulla strada che costeggia la sua casa, giunge un misterioso treno a vapore che sembra apparso dal nulla, chiamato Polar Express; il controllore, un uomo burbero ma bonario, svela al giovane che tale treno conduce i bambini al Polo Nord permettendo loro di incontrare Babbo Natale. Nonostante i suoi dubbi, il bambino decide di salire a bordo.Ecc.ecc.
