Ruby with a 3D Love Heart made of card -
she doesn't think much of my rushed choice of background ...

Being Ruby, she put the card Love Heart on her head ...
"It makes a good hat."
Ruby has a quirky sense of humour - she is often a little bit naughty and often quotes Margot Fonteyn:
“The most important thing I have learned over the years is the difference between taking one's work seriously and taking one's self seriously. The first is imperative, and the second disastrous.”

Hope to see you there :-)
Australia has many venomous snakes - luckily we live in an inner city area and these are the only snakes my dolls are likely to encounter - unless they are out bushwalking. But Ruby is still a little suspicious about the Double Door Snakes.

Using an old photo taken when they were quite new because the door snakes are currently in summer hibernation.
Ruby and a display of hand made needlelace at the Palazzo Davanzati Florence.
This wonderful museum gives you some idea of how a wealthy merchant and his family might have lived in the 14th C.
What most websites don't mention is that it also houses a wonderful collection of lace - or at least it did in 2018 when we visited.
Audrey (finally) has a black ballgown and asked Ruby for help finding the right shoes to wear with it - Ruby recently organised all the shoes into one big box, so she knows where they all are.
Audrey couldn't decide - but as Ruby pointed out, wearing red shoes with everything is something of a 'trademark' for Audrey ...

I bought the black ballgown years ago - very cheap but you do get what you pay for and it needed a lot of remediation work - it didn't fit at all. I finally fixed it this week.
Looking back on the year ...
January 2024 looks rather unproductive but I was also trying to sort & destash sporadically through this year ... and that is time-consuming.
Anyhow - in January I did some Bridal Beading on commission.
I knitted a dress with big sleeves for Imogen (a Blythe doll) and I tie dyed a T-shirt for Ruby (another Blythe doll).
My sister gave me a big box - and I today Ruby & Sofonz sorted a couple of smaller and confused boxes of clothes into the new big box.
Sofonz: "Coats and cardigans, capes along the side, some of our evening dresses ... "
Ruby: "I think we've done a good job Soff ... and now we should have a cuppa and some of those Christmas chocolates."
Ruby is rehearsing a new production of Der Rosenkavalier.
This is an early rehearsal so everyone is working from their scores.
Ruby is a mezzo soprano and she has the role of Octavian. It's a 'pants role' - she has to pretend to be a young man (in opera this usually means lots of standing with your legs apart). Ruby also has to get used to wearing the platform boots that the costume designer has chosen for Ruby, to make her look taller.
The Soprano has to get used to wearing her costume with a big long skirt ... so they've given her an old petticoat to rehearse in.
