A beautiful late October day finds Huron & Eastern's 702 crossing the Saginaw River bridge, heading for Durand. Once regularly hauled by the HESR's fleet of older GEs, "The Rocket" on this day was powered by one their newly acquired SD40M-2s, the New England Central GP38 and one of the HESR's own GP38-2s.
It's a shot from the July 2019 archives for this week's Thursday Monochrome group. The image shows tall ships as they pass downstream on the Saginaw River in Essexville, Michigan, on their way to a weekend "Tall Ship Celebration" in Bay City, Michigan. A crowd of folks, me among them, came out to see the ships as they passed by. Unfortunately, none were under sail as they went past, but they were still impressive to see.
