This page simply reformats the Flickr public Atom feed for purposes of finding inspiration through random exploration. These images are not being copied or stored in any way by this website, nor are any links to them or any metadata about them. All images are © their owners unless otherwise specified.
This site is a busybee project and is supported by the generosity of viewers like you.
This is my exercise to learn from a successful Scottish painter Mr Jack Vetteriano.
I have modified the painting by omitting the Singing Butler and the maid who carried the umbrellas to:
(a) simplify the composition and
(b) it appears in this day and age to ask one's employees to be soaked in the rain to satisfy one's flight of fancy is not a decent thing to do.
Image created with Midjourney that was altered with the Topaz Gigapixel AI plug-in (high fidelity), then the Exposure X7 plug-in (blow up), then the Topaz DeNoise plugin, then the Luminar Neo plug-in (accent AI, exposure, shadow, white, smart contrast, color and luminosity noise, dramatic, depth, face light, iris visibility, iris flare, eye whitening, eye enhancement, improve eyebrows, highlight contrast, midtone contrast, and shadow contrast adjustments), then the Exposure X7 plug-in (damaged Daguerreotype and Calotype effects), and then multiple edits with built-in Photoshop tools, including the median blur effect.
Deze foto speelt met snelheid, vervorming en fragmentatie — maar nog meer met waarneming zelf. Het idee ontstond na het zien van Bart Michielsens werk, waarin hij portretten opdeelt in linker- en rechterhelften. Dat zette me aan het denken: hoe snel denken we dat we een gezicht herkennen, en hoe makkelijk laten we ons eigenlijk misleiden? In dit beeld heb ik één hoofd vastgelegd, maar wel in beweging, waardoor het zichzelf lijkt te verliezen of te vermenigvuldigen. Voor mij is het een visueel onderzoek naar hoe identiteit en beeld zich verhouden tot waarneming. Wat zien we echt, en wat vullen we zelf in? Ik wil de kijker uitnodigen om die twijfel toe te laten. Niet alles is wat het lijkt — en misschien zit daar juist de kern van het beeld.
