This pair of mute swans were in the canal by the Ebenezer Chapel I have not seen swans here before, and on walking up to Old Cwmbran, discovered that the swan family has disappeared. Possibly the cygnets have been relocated and these adults have moved down here because of the inevitable disturbance in removal of their brood. Hopefully they will return to Star Street to nest next year.

This is the kind of crazy shit you have to go through to keep a bike safe in this fucking city, when what they should do is let the police shoot bicycle thieves on sight.
This must be a very expensive bicycle (and I classify anything over $200 as "very expensive)" or have extreme sentimental value. Or maybe it and public transportation are his only ways of getting around. In any case, this guy not only has the Kryptonite Evolution Series 4 lock (with the orange barrel, 8/10 security rating, $74) on the back, but the top-of-the-line Kryptonite New York (yellow barrel, 9/10 security rating, $98) on the front! He's taking no chances. $172 for 2 bike locks!? That's more than I paid new 9 years ago for the bike that got stolen! That's more than I paid used for its almost exact replacement yesterday! But, sadly, it's necessary these days. I doubt that the casual thief (or even a pro) is going to spend a half hour on each lock with a battery-powered grinder showering sparks and debris to steal this bike.
