4/2024 - Allentown, PA
The CNJ/RDG station in Allentown was built 1888-89. Passenger service ended in 1963 and the building was abandoned until 1980 when it was converted to a restaurant under various names. The restaurant has been closed since 2007 and the building is looking rough.

No 4 (3718) 7th April 2024 Boughton Northampton & Lamport Railway

1330 Boughton to Pitsford & Brampton service departure from Boughton station. Boughton Extension.
On Saturday 30th March 2024 we officially opened our southern extension to Boughton to the public! The project was a dream 17 years in the making, with working having first started in early 2007. Work involved laying track, restoring an 8-arch low viaduct and building a completely new station at Boughton. We’ve also restored an ex-LNWR signal box (from near Crewe) and installed a fully functioning Victorian signalling system.

ELMFIELD PARK opened in 1922 and is situated between Chequer Road, Roman Road and South Parade. Elmfield House is an early 19th Century Grade II Listed building and sits at the north end of the park. overlooking the historic rose garden in full bloom. In 1987 we used the park as the backdrop for our wedding photos before a reception meal at the nearby Regent Hotel.

Doncaster Leisure Centre, known as THE DOME, was officially opened in November 1989 by Diana, Princess of Wales. Designed by architect Faulkner Brown, construction of The Dome started three years earlier in November 1986. On completion, the cost of the build was £26 million. In October 2023 The Dome was designated a Grade II Listed Building.

DONCASTER RAILWAY STATION viewed from the top of the multi story car park looking south. The image would be dated around the second half of 1987, the first stantions, that will soon support the overhead wires for the electrified ECML, The British Railways 'Plant' Locomotive works occupies most of the background and the old cattle dock are being used as a car park to the left. Just out of sight to the left was BR offices 'Gresley House' and the Mainline/Outlook Nightclub, a place I spent a lot of time at, both were demolished to make way for the new Transport Interchange in 2004.

Doncaster railway station was built in 1949 but was rebuilt in 1938, most of which is still the mainstay of the present station with just a few modifications and alterations. 2004 saw the most modernistaion to incorporate it into the new Transport Interchange. In 2015 work started on building the new platform 0 on the site of the old cattle dock. The Station Booking Hall was given Grade II Listed status in April 1988.

From 1955 the Dennis postcards began carrying new catalogue numbers: Doncaster Postcards were numbered D.17xx (Standard Size) D.17xxL (Large Continental Size) D.17xxxL (reissue or new photographs of a previous scene).

E.T.W. Dennis & Sons Ltd printworks in Scarborough closed in 2000. The rights to the photographs were bought by John Hinde who has since released a new version of selected images under the E.T.W Dennis / John Hinde name.

Calanque de Sormiou, Marseille -3D0A9415- by jmlpyt
