This final pair of shots shows, at left, the departing class 170 unit, on the Scarborough via Hull to Sheffield passenger service, 1H54 now accelerating towards the camera along platform 5 and providing some extra illumination at this end of the station. 37419 now has its own headlamps on, with red on the back of the rear loco, 37402, which brought the set into the station on the 3S14, Grimsby Town via Sheffield for reversal, to Bridlington working. There are a few folk at the other end of the station, a couple of 'enthusiasts' and having grabbed the shot of the 37 and with the 170 approaching, I headed back along the platform. In the right picture, I am on my way out, so thought I would grab the last shot of the rear loco, 37402, ex-D974, 'Stephen Middlemore 23.12.1954 - 8.6.2013' with its 'B.R. Large Intercity Logo', with the driver and second-man now having moved to the front and are preparing for the off and the platform now pretty much deserted. Amongst the folk I had spotted in the picture on the left as I started to walk back along the platform was a couple of young women, dressed for a holiday abroad it looked like, who were heading, with brightly coloured pink & white suitcases, to Leeds. I could only assumed they were heading to the airport via a connection at Doncaster, Meadowhall or Sheffield as they told me they were waiting for the next train but didn't know which platform it came in on. I informed them it was the one they were on, platform, 5, but it wouldn't arrive for about a half hour, so they went off into the waiting room. The next I saw of them was when I was walking back along the platform to head back to our place at Carnaby and saw they were sat on the benches with their suitcases.. Informing them that the train they wanted had just left, they said they knew and would have to wait for the next one, in an hour.. Hmmm I thought, wonder if the plane is also going to wait .. they had a bit of a journey to get from here to Leeds anyway without having missed two trains it transpired. On exit from the station I decided to get a shot back of the 37 over the picket fence, seen in the earlier photograph, so I was hanging about a bit getting the camera set up when, out of the station the two women came, now arguing the toss as to who's fault it was they had missed their train(s).. and disappeared off towards Tesco in all their sexy-looking outfits! The whole incident reminded my of a piece from 'Live at the Apollo', preformed by the comedian, Jon Richardson, from 2013, the whole 13 minute clip is here-

with the relevant bit at 3 minutes in from the beginning, and relates to two girls travelling on the London Underground missing their stop, and which matches the scene here very well indeed! I should have taken some shots of the scene with them in it but, as usual, didn't think of it until they had gone..
