Slowing through the Huddleston curves under dynamic braking is late running loaded ORA grain service 5114S from Gladstone behind ALF22/CLP14 on Saturday the 13th of February 2021, this train would pause outside of Crystal Brook on the Eastern leg of the triangle due to opposing Intermodal traffic for the remainder of the evening before departing towards Pelican Point after sunset.
The tree line in the background remains from the original SAR Narrow gauge line, which operated through this location from Port Pirie to the state border of Cockburn from 1875 until being replaced by Standardisation and the current formation in 1970.

Disturbing the tranquility of the Adelaide hills briefly while climbing upgrade is Aurizon Intermodal service 5XM1 from Port Pirie to North Dynon via Port Adelaide behind the unusual combination of GL105/ALF22/ACD6056 on Thursday the 2nd of January 2025.
This train originated in Port Pirie earlier in the morning behind GL102/GL105 with Adelaide and Melbourne bound loading from fellow Aurizon service 3PS1, GL102 was later removed at Dry Creek due to a fault before the ALF and ACD were added to for the remainder of the journey. ALF22 was outshopped in Aurizon colours at the end of 2024 and joins ALF23 and ALF24 in the Yellow livery.
Hired power from Railfirst Asset Management dominates this train on most services however recent reliability issues with the GL and CM classes has seen Aurizon’s locomotives featured more regularly. It’s expected that further orders of ACD class units due to arrive during 2025 will enable the two GL class locomotives to be dehired by the end of January while the CM’s will remain, further Aurizon locomotives from the Eastern Bulk business unit are rumoured to arrive during the new year for traffic such as MX/XM services.
