Burlington Northern Santa Fe tried several test schemes before coming up with “Heritage I” paint for the merged railroad. One on them, applied to BN SD70MAC No. 9647 was not very popular, and nicknamed the “Vomit Bonnet.” They took BN Grinstein colors of dark green and creme and applied it to the locomotive mimicking a Santa Fe warbonnet. Needless to say, it was one-of-a-kind! Here No. 9647 is seen inside the Alliance, Nebraska, locomotive shop on July 21, 2003, sitting next to a “real” warbonnet—former Santa Fe SD75M No. 201—now BNSF No. 8201.

Former Reading (via Conrail) switcher, now working for NS. Perhaps not as famous as the former Reading T-1 2102, but a great piece of vintage equipment still earning its keep today.

A metal-on-metal contact can be the major culprit of such a failure. This failure has made Ford an object of wide criticism and lawsuits. The Ford company has been working on it, and the third generation of these engines do not use it anymore.

Utah Railway's Martin Yard as it appeared on May 30, 2008. Four of the five Aussie SD50S units are coupled together. The fifth 50 was at the time assigned to work the 310 local out of Midvale.

The excitement builds at Wasatch Mountain Railway’s Heber City yard on Labor Day, 1976. Pacific Lumber Company 2-8-2 No. 35 and Union Pacific 2-8-0 No. 618 would doublehead for the last time on this day from Bridal Veil Falls in Provo Canyon to Heber City.
