The fairly stylised slab of count Burckhardt von Lützelstein, probably based on a standard workshop-model, depicts typical Southern German armour from the first three decades of the 15th century, even up to the 1430s:
A breastplate without a fauld; worn over a hauberk showing the long skirt; worn over a houppelande with the fashionable rolled up sleeves first seen around 1409; plate armour for the limbs with pointed poleyns on the knees.

Originally, the incised slabs of the couple were probably laid out in the choir of the church, but during the 1880s they were relocated outside of the church, in their actual position.
The third, heraldic slab, used to be placed vertically against the wall of the choir, in front of those of the couple.

Both count and countess died of the plage, Burckhardt on the 10th of December, and Gillette the 18th.
