Según la clasificación actual, esta ave se llama Tolmomyias sulphurescens confusus y pertenece a la familia más grande del mundo, Tyrannnidae.

Casi todo puede cambiar. Algunos expertos ya han separado más de 100 pequeños papamoscas, incluido este, en una nueva familia, Rhynchocyclidae.

Además, Tolmomyias sulphurescens (también llamado Mosquero ojos blancos) probablemente se dividirá en varias especies.

According to the actual classification, this bird is called Tolmomyias sulphurescens confusus and belong to the largest family in the world, the Tyrannnidae.
