A "blast from the past". Narrow Wangjiamatou Road (王家码头路) leads from Xiaonanmen (小南门) to the wharves at Huangpu River - "Matou" (码头) means "wharf, pier, jetty" in Chinese.

The area around Xiaonanmen, a maze of tiny and tinier alleys and "弄 nong", filled with small 1 to 2 storey houses is in parts still in the same state as it was in colonial times - and/or even before that. One of the last remnants of the (in colonial times) so called "Chinese City".

But it's doomed - urban redevelopment calls for demolition of the small old buildings and construction of new, shiny apartment and office towers. View it on a black background

Gli avventori del bar ,i bambini, la banda: la festa di una domenica di 53 anni fa! Il luogo dello scatto è Genzano di Roma, tipico paesotto dei più noti Castelli Romani. Dall’immagine si respira anche e soprattutto l’enorme semplicità dei tempi. Bastava poco,senza la scuola e senza il duro lavoro nei campi (predominante a quei tempi in quella zona) , per sentirsi disponibili all’atmosfera festosa. In più quella domenica c’era anche la tipica Infiorata estiva.

The patrons of the bar, children, band: a Sunday of the festival 53 years ago! The location shots in Genzano di Roma, typical little town of the most famous Castelli Romani. From the image you breathe also and above all the great simplicity of the times. Just enough, without school and without the hard work in the fields (predominant at that time in that area), to feel festive atmosphere available. On Sunday there was more than the typical summer Flower Festival.

Victoria Peak is a hill on the western half of Hong Kong Island. It is also known as Mount Austin, and locally as The Peak only generally. With an elevation of 552 metres (1,811 ft), it is the highest hill on Hong Kong Island, ranked 29 in terms of elevation in Hong Kong. It is a major tourist attraction offering views of Central, Victoria Harbour, Lamma Island and the surrounding islands.

The summit of Victoria Peak is occupied by a radio telecommunications facility and is closed to the public. The surrounding area of public parks, tourist facilities and high-value residential land is the area that is normally meant by the name The Peak. The Peak also refers to Victoria Peak itself and its nearby areas, including Victoria Gap, Mount Kellett and Mount Gough. Sometimes Bowen Hill may also be included.

The Recollet Falls trail is about 4 km long in total, out and back trail and takes about 1 hour to hike. The terrain is a mix of bedrock, being located within southern point of the Canadian shield, packed ground, and rocky areas with tree roots. Elevation gain is minimal about 46 m, however there are various steep sections. Hiking shoes are highly recommended especially on rainy days.

Though John Graydon built the storey-and-a-half brick Gothic Revival house he never occupied it himself. The gabled roof structure is built in an L-shape, with a one-storey rear addition, and features decorative terra-cotta tile inlay.
