This is the first image in my series on insects...
I found a Red-legged Grasshopper resting on this flower as I was taking my daily walk. I made a mental note of where it was, hoping that when I got back home to get my camera, that it would still be on the flower for me to capture it when I returned.
Thankfully it was still there and it obliged me with a 10-minute photo session, giving me many lovely images :)
Despite its Red-legged name, the legs of this one seems more dominated by the color green! This one was about 2 inches long.
This species is the most abundant grasshopper in North America.
