G529-A81-X39 hauling XR-X-XR and 40 loaded grain hoppers through Taradale Loop. Two of the original locos (XR-X-XR) had failed approaching Elphinstone Tunnel earlier in the day leaving the train stranded mid section. The QUBE rice train had come to the rescue, stabling the wagons in Elphinstone Loop before the locos hauled the failed grain over the hill. The train stabled in Elphinstone Loop waiting for the G-A-X to arrive from Melbourne. The locos overtook the Steamrail special at Sunbury Bank. Once the Steamrail train had entered Taradale Loop the 6 loco grain train departed for Melbourne.
