08.59: Repainted 296 058-1 heads East light engine out of the the South West Yard at Linden.
This lok was overhauled only a month before (and obviously repainted as well 😊).
Built by MaK (Maschinenbau Kiel GmbH, Kiel) it was delivered to DB on 10 August 1967 as V 90 058 (Works No.1000431).
When DB moved to UIC numbers in 1968, it became 290 058-7 before becoming 296 058-1 in December 2006 when it got a new remote control system and MTU engine.
This lok has been Hanover based its whole working life (a very unusual outcome as many get shuffled depots when overhauled).
At 55 years old and once again overhauled, it should see out its 60th birthday still working for DB😊 👍

Braved sub-zero wind chills this morning to observe a Townsend's Solitaire (Myadestes townsendi) that has been feeding in a group of cedar trees in Moraine Hills State Park in McHenry County, Illinois. Only the 3rd one of this species that I have observed here in Illinois, 2022.
