Für den Hochwasserschutz im Sihltal und der Stadt Zürich wird seit 2022 an einem Entlastungsstollen gebaut, welcher zukünftig Hochwasser aus der Sihl in den Zürichsee ableiten wird. Eigens dafür wurde eine Verladestelle zwischen Langnau a.A. und Sihlwald errichtet, um den Aushub per Bahn abtransportieren zu können. In der Kalenderwoche 20 dieses Jahres fiel der Startschuss um den ersten Transport über den Schienenweg abzuwickeln. Die Züge welche durch die TR Trans Rail produziert werden, verkehren unter der Woche jeweils über Sihlbrugg – Zug nach Hüntwangen.
Am 14 Mai 2024 verkehrte bereits der zweite Aushubzug und konnte mit der von Railadventure eingemieteten Re 620 003 zwischen Cham und Rotkreuz aufgenommen werden.
