Steve Gent and I went hoping to finally see a Great-tailed Grackle or Mexican Grackle (Quiscalus mexicanus) that was being seen for the second year in Monee, Illinois. My third trip to see this bird and Steve's second. So third time was a charm; Illinois state bird #346. Winter 2023.

LAUNTW heads east out of Kandiyohi with a pair of NS units on point, and many other units trailing behind. The train would go around NTWLIN in Atwater siding, which would take a while, and wouldn't get to my next spot till sunset, so this was my only shot I could get of them with sun. Not many options for backlit EBs between Willmar and Atwater, but what can ya do.
