I was en route from Paris to a meeting with Shell in Assen and had arrived at Schiphol airport, transfered to Amsterdam Centraal by rail and was waiting for my connection. This gave me time to record this short video of the activity in this impressive station.
The first scene is of a Mat '54 "Hondekop" (Dognose) electric muliple unit departing to the south.
Class 1200 electric locomotive 1204 was designed by Baldwin in the USA & constructedby Werkspoor (Utrecht). This class were built between 1951 and 1953 and were in NS service until 1998.
Class 1600 electric 1638 was a member of a class built between 1980 & 1983 by Alsthom & very similar to the SNCF BB 7200 locos.
1102 is a member of the 1100 Class introduced from 1950. They were built by Alsthom to an original design of the French BB 8100. All were withdrawn by 1999.
Class 600 629 is one of a class of 65 shunting locomotives built by English Electric in England between 1950 and 1957. They were very similar to the British Rail Class 11.
My train to Assen seen arriving in the last sequence was an Intercity Materieel or ICM emu - known as a Koploper.
