Typical Guan widespread in the Andes from Venezuela to Bolivia. Found at higher elevations than most other guans; from the upper subtropics to the temperate zone.
This individual was in the grounds of Guango Lodge (Napo/Ecuador) at first light when it spent a few minutes attending the moth light/sheet used here.

The Andean Guan (Penelope montagnii) inhabits the Andean highlands above 1500 meters (5000 feet) in Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. It’s a large bird; it measures about 40-58 cm (16-23 in) in length.
