"Foam-Lined"..."Carpet-Lined"...you've heard of these, but have you heard of "Maple-Lined?" How's about a ½"-thick stave Bubinga Shell lined with 8-plies of maple just to get it that much thicker! Then add 10 vents for maximum explosive volume, and you've got the gnarliest FreeFloater insert on the block! 3¾x14; solid stave bubinga + 8-ply maple; satin wax.

P. resinosus is associated with the Cramp Ball fungus (Daldinia concentrica), usually where it is growing on old ash trees or ash timber. The larvae develop inside the black fungus known as King Alfred's Cakes or Cramp Balls and the adult weevil feeds on the wood around the fungus.
It is a localised species, but recorded widely in southern Britain, extending north to Yorkshire.
As winter slowly relents the early hints of spring in the woodland begin to appear, leaves on trees start to regrow and the foliage on the forest floor becomes thicker and lusher, soon the woodland will be an abundance of new life and the cycle continues. The woodland is so often a chaotic place, often crowded, dense and overgrown, but that's nature in all it's natural beauty, enjoy it as it is and photograph it.
