"Dance Central" in Lynn, Massachusetts, thirty-three years ago.

That's me sitting in the front left. They needed a partner, and I was there. It was the most fun I ever had in a class! Lifts were very delightful, and I remember it well. The dancers were totally weightless and I was on cloud nine.

The photographer, Peter, (visible in the mirror) came to do a photo shoot of the studio and the dancers before and during classes for a coffee table book on One Day USA. A different photo from Dance Central did make it into the book. It was not taken during this partnering class.

Leanne is sitting right behind me in this photo. In this photo, she is fourteen years of age.

Leanne and her lovely family are spending a few days of their vacation in the USA visiting Miss Cecily, Raf, and me. We have had such a happy time with them. Leanne is like a daughter to Miss Cecily and me.

I will be posting photos of their family visit...:) We have had such a happy time during their visit.

The Firebird (French: L'Oiseau de feu; Russian: Жар-птица, translit. Zhar-ptitsa) is a ballet and orchestral concert work by the Russian composer Igor Stravinsky. It was written for the 1910 Paris season of Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes company; the original choreography was by Michel Fokine, with a scenario by Alexandre Benois and Fokine based on the Russian fairy tales of the Firebird and the blessing and curse it possesses for its owner. When first performed at the Opéra de Paris on 25 June 1910, the work was an instant success with both audience and critics.

The ballet has historic significance not only as Stravinsky's breakthrough piece, but also as the beginning of the collaboration between Diaghilev and Stravinsky that would also produce the acclaimed ballets Petrushka (1911) and The Rite of Spring (1913).

I shot this lovely moment during a dress rehearsal of Norman Walker's Ballet Homage To George Balanchine. It was part of "Arizona Ballet Theatre Salutes The Americas 2014."

Normally, I would use a dress rehearsal to get my camera settings right, but I am only permitted to shoot during the rehearsals. And, I had just bought the Canon 70D. It is so different from the Canon 30D. I'm still getting used to it...;) I would have been able to use 1/160th of a second which would have been much better, and even 1/200th of a second which would have been better still! Just wait till next year, as Dem Bums (Brooklyn Dodgers) used to say...

The performances were on May 31 and June 1, 2014 in The University Of Arizona's Stevie Eller Dance Theatre."

I shot Jacob And The Angel in the theatre at yesterday's dress rehearsal of "Arizona Ballet Theatre Salutes The Americas 2014." The lighting is dramatically low, so I had to shoot at slower shutter speeds than I like to use.
Performances are Saturday Evening at 6 pm and Sunday Matinee at 3 pm, in the University Of Arizona's Stevie Eller Dance Theatre.

On September, 2017, Bo Binton accepted a position with a ballet company in Boston, Massachusetts.
The ballet mistress said it was clear he had excellent training. That made Miss Cecily very happy. Bo studied with Miss Cecily and Norman Walker at her ballet studio, American Ballet Theatre, in Tucson, Arizona. He has been featured in a number of Arizona Ballet Theatre performances over a number of years.

I had hoped to capture something good during this dance. The wings were a light image projected on the rear wall by the theater's projectionist.
I was seated second-row center in the Stevie Eller Dance Theatre.
I shot lots of images and in this one, everything aligned perfectly. I have done a bit of image post-processing to enhance the dramatic effect.
