This yet another travel pass that I bought ages ago but have only got round to scanning in. Bought last October for £4.95 (again from bandibacs54, a seller whose listing I attempted to correct, this is a West Midlands PTE old peoples' bus pass that was issued by Wolverhampton City Council, possibly in 1973, I can't say.
Needless to say, the holder has long since died or she could be knocking round in some old peoples' home in the city that gave us Slade for all we know. When this expired, the late David Soul (real name David Solberg) was at number one with Silver Lady while La Belle Epoque were at number two with their cover of Los Bravos' 1966 hit Black Is Black.
Meanwhile, on telly, Belfast-born Gordon Burns was hosting the Krypton Factor on Granada every Wednesday, which meant that every week someone probably ended up in hospital having done themselves an injury on the army assault course and I'm not making that shit up either!
Without a DOUBT, that show was what your telly was made for of a Wednesday night and I was either watching it with my mum or across the way at number 46 with my childminder Mrs Stevenson (we lived in Falkner Place, on the Falkner Estate at the time).
On the right is the conditions of issue and it comes of no surprise to learn that the earliest you could start using the pass was half nine, so perhaps the title of this photo should be 'travel for twirlies' (am I too early?). Right at the bottom is the council's stamp for the benefit of anyone who found the pass.
By the way, this took me fucking ages to get right scanning in and editing so I hope you like my efforts.
