Deer Park was landscaped by the 5th Viscount Fitzwilliam. The parklands comprise the area behind the site of Mount Merrion House. The park is now open to the public. It was created in 1971 from a collection of open public spaces and some acquisitions of private land. The park contains both sporting facilities (Association Football (soccer) and Gaelic football pitches, as well as the Deerpark Tennis Club), and landscaped land for more informal pursuits. Its location and altitude also provide it with a great view of Dublin city towards the north, which is often used by photographers for panoramas and also by developers to assess the impact of development on the cityscape. Crowds also gather in Deerpark to look out at the annual Skyfest fireworks display around St. Patrick's Weekend which is sometimes held in Dublin city centre. It can also be a good vantage point for observing the Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis when they are visible in the Dublin area. It is claimed that Strongbow's white stallion is buried somewhere in Deer Park.

After a month's break, seeing as how the two concerts at Craven Park didn't turn up anything - bad timing proved to be my enemy here - and seeing as how there'll be no Ellie Rose running day as planned, its back to London 2023, I suppose. With hope, I'll be able to put day 1 of 3 to bed this week! If I remember to, that is. This is the penultimate photo of the many 521s that I saw in the City, mercifully, and it was at this point that I realised that yes, I might have been getting too many of them. Another funny thing from being this way was also for a very fruitless search for shampoo for the hotel bath... by the time we got down here, the shop had just shut about a few minutes prior!
The penultimate Red Arrow photo now, Go-Ahead London General's SEe19, a 2016 BYD ADL Enviro200EV allocated to Waterloo (RA) garage, is seen coming up Cannon Street on a 521 to London Bridge.
A new arrival in Alan Hurst's fleet, this Bova Europa was a ground-breaking move away from Bedfords, which had been almost the sole choice of chassis from the start of his operation. It must have made an impression, as the emphasis quickly shifted to DAF engines, either in DAF's own chassis, or in further Bovas. For a while, he ran examples of the Bova Europa, Futura and Calypso side by side - just a shame I didn't manage to get a photo of them side by side as well !
This one had only had a short spell with its original Dorset operator, Maybury of Cranborne, prior to Hursts, but Alan would keep it for another 7 years. Another advantage to buying this coach was that there was no need to repaint it - a few years earlier, a Bedford YMT / Duple had been acquired from Maybury, which led to Alan adopting their livery for his fleet, so it only needed some fresh lettering.
