I'm not even sure the real Citroen Ami is available in metallic silver but to get the most out of their casting thats what Matchbox have given it for 2024 Case K. More tampo detailing than the debut version which is an instant win for me and despite its tiny size is packed with charm.
Found at an Action discount store in France.

As predicted and bucking the normal fate which befalls small sized Matchbox castings their 2021 Citroen Ami proved popular with collectors and avoided the dreaded peg warming status. Well certainly here in the UK and probably Europe, maybe not in the US! ;-P
Being a FAIRLY common sight over here probably partly explains its popularity as well as its obvious cuteness. Cost saving manufacturing methods means a basic one piece plastic upper though detailing is excellent and metallic paint finish flawless.
Part of 2024 Case K found at various French Action stores.

The entire assortment of the new Matchbox European Streets mix will set off deja-vu moments including this irresistibly cute flat grey 2021 Citroen Ami. First appearing in the Best Of France series then quickly as a standard mainline single this cutie now reappears in the new European Streets assortment.
A tiny casting of a tiny electric quadricycle which surprisingly didn't become the expected peg warmer, certainly not here in the UK anyway. There isn't much to it really, a metal body with a one piece plastic upper but very fine detailing front and rear.

The Citroën Ami is a four-door, front-wheel drive economy (B-segment) family car, manufactured and marketed by Citroën from 1961 to 1978. Designed by Flaminio Bertoni the Citroen Ami was launched in April 1961, four months ahead of rival the Renault 4. With both the Renault and Citroen anticipating a market for an inexpensive car, to be marketed as a less basic alternative to the Citroen 2CV. The Ami is a rebodied 2CV with certain mechanical upgrades, particularly its 602cc engine, which was to be offered at extra cost on the 2CV from 1970.The platform chassis and suspension is similar to the 2CV, being independent all round using leading and trailing arms and coil springs interconnected front to rear.
The Ami was offered in saloon and estate/wagon/break body styles over two generations, the Ami 6 and the Ami 8. The later Ami 8 fastback saloon featured a steeply raked rear window, in contrast to the earlier reverse-raked rear window of the Ami 6 notchback.
The Ami and the Ford Taunus P3 were the first cars with rectangular or lozenge-shaped (non-round) headlights. This technical innovation was developed by lighting manufacturers Hella (Taunus) and Cibie (Ami). Its seats were easily removable and in early publicity brochures were featured alongside the car as picnic seats for a family. The unusual reverse-raked notchback rear window, similar in style to the 1959 Ford Anglia 105E This design feature first appeared on the US 1953 Packard Balboa-X show car. It was first put into production on the 1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser and 1958-1960 Lincoln Continentals though in the American cars the widows opened for extra ventilation.
The later Ami 8 saloon has a fastback rear window. It was redesigned by the French car design and bodywork company, Heuliez. Most notable changes were the front part and bonnet and the sloping, rather than inverted, rear window on the saloon. The estate version of the Ami 8, the 'Break' had a similar general appearance to that of the Ami 6 although the later car's taillights were integrated into the rear wings.
Initially sales were less than predicted, priced 35 per cent higher than the 2CV, which was hard to justify, the Ami had a modern body style but its under pinnings remained as minimalist as the now thirteen-year-old 2CV. Sales did later recover with the introduction of the Ami 8 and Ami Break with over 1,840,396 units manufactured over the entire production run
