With water flooding in and the ship listing, she drifted back towards the island and grounded near shore, then rolled onto her starboard side, lying in an unsteady position on a rocky underwater ledge.
The evacuation of Costa Concordia took over six hours, but 32 passengers died.

Im Januar 2012 veröffentlicht die Schweizer Wochenzeitung meinen Artikel über das Arbeitsleben an Bord des Kreuzfahrtschiffes Costa Europa. Interessant dabei: Das Schiff stand damals unter dem Kommando von Capitano Francesco Schettino, der dann zu unfreiwillger Berühmtheit kam, als er das Schwesterschiff Costa Concordia vor der italienischen Insel Giglio unsanft auf Grund setze.
Nel gennaio 2012, il settimanale svizzero ha pubblicato il mio articolo sulla vita lavorativa a bordo della nave da crociera Costa Europa. Interessante: la nave era allora sotto il comando di Capitano Francesco Schettino, che divenne poi involontariamente famoso quando radicò bruscamente la nave gemella Costa Concordia al largo dell'isola italiana del Giglio.

Infrared video shot from an Italian Coast Guard helicopter on Friday night showed passengers evacuating a stricken cruise ship.
Viendo en la tele lo que hizo el ******* del capitán del crucero Costa Concordia, Francesco Schettino, se me ocurrieron varias cosas que podrían haber pasado. Se dice que una de las causas más plausibles fue el alcohol (aunque dudo que de cerveza, pero sirva el ejemplo).
Sólo una persona borracha perdida y con menos cerebro que una mosca podría haberse "caído" desde la cubierta del crucero a un bote salvavidas que, sin quererlo (evitar) lo llevó hasta la costa mientras el pasaje que en principio estaba a su cargo luchaba por su vida.
¡Felicidades, campeón! ¡Eres lo puto crack! (espero que se note la ironía…)
