I genuinely have no luck when browsing in the many charity shops in my local town centre. Either the residents of Huddersfield are too tight to give anything away or they are very canny and hoover up all the decent diecasts as soon as they land! Either way, my luck did come good slightly when I decided to visit the local flea market recently after not setting foot there in over two decades! It wasn't quite the treasure trove I was hoping for but I did manage to pick up a few models for just Pence including this rather lovely Corgi Juniors GUY Warrior Tanker Truck.
The casting of course started life as a Husky product which Corgi made exclusively for Woolworths until around 1969/70 when they were rebranded Juniors and became available at other retailers. Its transition mirorred that of Matchbox with the abandonment of realistic wheels in favour of low friction ones which helped them speed down tracks much faster a la Hot Wheels. The casting was simplified a little with the GUY Warrior name removed from the baseplate but overall it remained a decent replica of this once highly futuristic looking British truck from the once respected company of GUY. When British Leyland inherited them from Jaguar things went downhill rapidly!
